A group facilitator since 2013, they’re adept at listening for the heart of the issue, gently + firmly brushing out the tangles, and finding the secret third way through. They can pick out a binary at 50 paces, make enough food to feed the whole block, and read a sci-fi novel in under a day, sometimes all at once.Serious but doesn’t always remember to act like it. Study group for the future, featuring sleepover vibes. Each month our second drop-in focuses on the concrete resources that help us build the skills to navigate an intuitive, unhinged, but also maybe glorious future.

Listen at your own pace each month

Transmissions from a steady future. Jen + Kali, with occasional guest stars, share monthly stories of secret third things, futures that have already come to pass, and the possibilities of the present. Late night radio whispers meet lying in the yard on a long summer afternoon.

A Few Key Terms

A Secret Third Thing

The unexpected impossible experience or idea that cracks through the binary of good/bad, right/wrong, the thing that makes space in tight corners where friction, tension and no way/no how reign.

One Small Thing (OST)

A practice of listening for the underneath, what’s needed right here/right now thing for five minutes on the timer, then putting that thing into action for the next 25 minutes.

Dream Seeds

Hunches, inklings, synchronicities, fever dreams, strange ideas, non-sequiturs, deja vu, openings, impossibilities, prophecies.

Collapse

When interwoven support systems become impacted and then weakened to the point of failure; can happen on the macro or micro level, internally, locally and collectively.

Collective Dreaming

Collective dreaming: when resources of all kinds are identified, shared and rearranged in service to a vision of what the future can be as held by the same people feeling the weight of a shared difficulty or dilemma

Polycrisis

When one crisis accelerates or initiates another in such a way that multiple difficult things requiring complex response are happening at the same time.

The Long Dark

A feature of the anthropocene, the space of decline as the excesses of human-centric create a cascade of collapse conditions that insist humans turn towards each other in order to survive while society crumbles (welp) (shout out to Holly Truhlar).

Togetherness

When two or more people decide to share space, solve a problem, collaborate, joke, share resources of all kinds in a way that makes space for all parties to breathe and feel a little bit more grounded and like themselves; no prior or current affinity required.

Whimsy

When delight is a kind of resistance, when play is the point, when embracing joy/laughter/silliness of the moment becomes unintended but utterly effective strategy for moving our attention away from the horrors and into the power of our own lives + actionable longings.
